Fast Food, Faster Paintings is an exhibition that responds to the aesthetics, architecture and the presence of a building, a building in Stroud that used to sell Fish and Chips. Sam Marsh and George Atherton come together to produce and curate a series of works that takes the brash design of fast food culture and turns it into something gloriously greased up. A series of works will be exhibited throughout a selection of fast food outlets in Stroud town centre for the festival month.

  Samsara

Zen Elephant with Samsara
Sunday 6th May 8.30pm-2am
SVA, John Street, Stroud GL5 2HA

Zen Elephant effortlessly blend genres like folk, roots and gypsy jazz, to create a collection of songs which are charming, and above all very accessible. This Bristol based four-piece started out in 2008 in Stroud. Today they are fast becoming one of the most exciting emerging acts on the UK folk circuit. This event is part of an extensive European tour, which will take them to 25 gigs across 4 countries! Brighton-based collective Samsara create an open minded and fresh take on the roots tradition. Their music pays tribute to the original innovators of the sound while refusing to be bound by any stylistic conventions. The result has been described as “a startlingly new angle on the Jamaican sound” which sees the band “taking some solidly ska and reggae influences right to the edge with the kind of abandon beloved of jazz musicians and mixing it with near gypsy levels of passion”.
