Gilad Atzmon relaxing   Stroud Jazz Sessions: Gilad Atzmon
Thursday 12 December 8.30 -12pm
SVA, 4 John Street, Stroud GL5 2HA
Gilad Atzmon is one of the UK’s finest jazz saxophonists, so it is an absolute honour to welcome him to Stroud Jazz Sessions! He has been in the top cadre of jazz musicians for about 15 years now, playing everywhere, receiving great critical acclaim, and winning the 2003 BBC Jazz Album of the Year. Gilad plays fantastic, intelligent, powerful, muscular bebop which sings out more sweetly than almost anyone. His style is both uncompromisingly frenetic and breathtakingly elegiac, and weaves in his Middle Eastern and African influences with mainstream bop and a pinch of free. His live performances are a force even his albums cannot contain - check this out to whet your appetite. And Gilad is a polymath, being a prolific and highly regarded political commentator and writer, finding time to knock out books, a daily blog, speaking engagements, and the occasional top jazz album for good measure! He’s a man not to be missed. So with such insanely great credentials, Gilad will be rocking Stroud’s catskills to the core. The night will include performances by Gilad and an energeti-frenetic open jam session until midnight - SVA will surely be packed and buzzing from floor to rafter! Stroud Jazz Sessions is a hub for jazz in Stroud, held in SVA on the 2nd Thursday of each month and featuring a special guest each time. All are welcome to listen or perform. Advance tickets are recommended.

Creative Writing
every Wednesday 6.30-8.30pm
4 John Street, Stroud, GL5 2HA

All are welcome - beginners and experienced writers. Each blank sheet of paper is a new beginning. The activity called creative writing involves investigation and discovery of your inner resources. It is a journey of self-discovery. It is fun. It is challenging and, as it reveals the power and uniqueness of your imagination, you will be surprised and delighted. The only risk is that you may get hooked. All it takes is pencil and paper and a slipping free of the internal censor. You will have a sense of having triumphed over your negativity, of having entered the jungle of yourself, explored it and realized there is always more to discover. You will have work that expresses your unique individuality that you can share with others.
