It’s is not just Music… it is a state of mind. Tav Falco is one of the truly original and romantic voices in American music - the voice that America lost and found. He is tender and virile, flamboyant, witty and dangerous. Falco brings daggers back to the stage, and HE is the one who always holds out a hand to the enemy.

Mr Fluffypunk’s Penny Gaff
Simon Munnery sings Soren Kierkegaard
Saturday 13th June 8pm
SVA, 4 John Street, Stroud GL5 2HA
Penny Gaff? Scattered amongst the genteel music halls of Victorian London were their bawdy, low-life cousins, the ‘Penny Gaffs’- rough-house variety shows bringing colourful entertainment to the great unwashed. This month’s headliner is serial innovator and multi award-winner Simon Munnery - ‘One of the funniest, most original comedians of the past twenty years’ (Guardian). Last year, Simon came to SVA with the earliest, embryonic work-in-progress of this show, in which he endeavours to perform a selection of the 19th Century Danish existential philosopher’s writings, talk about them, and make them funny. Plus anything else in between. Now see the finished, polished article- a five-star Edinburgh sensation! A new stand-up show as recently seen/heard on Comedy Central’s Alternative Comedy Experience, BBC2’s Culture Show and Radio 4’s News Quiz. Plus Bill Jones, Uta Baldauf and Jonny holding things together. Plus films, competitions, prizes and spinning tunes until late.
Tickets: £8.50 advance £10 on the door

Leiik " exudes a brooding sense of longing and intimacy throughout as subtle electronics build to reach the most moreish of conclusions" Just Music That I Like. Bunki is an ex-Goldsmiths, London-based producer. "This eerie, haunting and strangely captivating debut EP marks Bunki out as a definite face to watch in 2015." DIY. Stroud Jazz sessions presents
Oliver Stanton and Twice William Quartet
Thursday 9 July 8.30 -11pm
SVA, 4 John Street, Stroud GL5 2HA
Stroud Jazz Sessions is delighted to host master bebopper Oliver Stanton on saxophone as special guest, appearing with his quartet Twice William. Oly and his blue suede shoes have enthralled and enraptured us during his regular recent appearances at the jam session, along with quartet colleagues Aidan Pope on guitar, Tom Sladen on drums, and James Owston on bass. Oly, Aidan and Tom spend their last summer in the Forest of Dean before taking up places at Birmingham Conservatoire to seek jazz providence. This performance represents a great chance to hear them before their exuberant, energetic and free souls are subverted by the dark and powerful forces of formal jazz tuition...
Twice William's opening performance will be followed by our usual energeti-frenetic jam for all-comers to play, sing, or listen. Join us at Stroud's monthly jazz hub, the 2nd Thursday of every month.

Studio Nine presents Speedy
a Harold Lloyd classic with live piano from Albert Lamb
Saturday 18 July doors 7.30pm
Goods Shed, Stroud GL5 3AP
Speedy is a 1928 silent film that was one of the films to be nominated for the short-lived Academy Award for Best Director of a Comedy. The film stars famous comedian Harold Lloyd in the eponymous leading role, and it was his last silent film to be released in theatres. The plot revolves around Harold 'Speedy' Swift's attempts to save the last horse-drawn streetcar in New York. The film contrasts the speed of life of the contemporary city with the pace of yesteryear, represented by this non-motorized mode of transport. Yankees star Babe Ruth plays one of 'Speedy's' hapless passengers.
Albert Lamb will be creating an appropriate musical accompaniment to bring out all the humour and emotion in every scene. He promises to really make these movie swing.
