This
is a film of an unattended coffee percolator gettting more and more excited. It is part of a series of experiments in editing without separating the sound and the pictures. Sometimes I have made a cut according to the sound and the image is a by product of that process, and sometimes it is the other way round. Within this structure I have attempted to enhance the patterns and the random nature of the subject. In keeping with the aproach of the SVA organisation the structured rhythmic loops and free style ejaculations all rub up together. I also chose this subject as I believe every makeover needs a water feature. |

I
studied sculpture at Loughborough College of Art, graduating in 1988. I then moved to the Glasgow Sculpture Studios where I built mechanical furniture and was envolved in a wide range of community art projects. I am currently developing new musical instruments for sound projects and performances. These barely controllable mechanical contraptions are designed to allow the instrument to play a part in the composition of the music. I have performed with my instruments at a variety of events including the SVA Resound. I now live and work with a small community of artists on a farm north of Glasgow. Together we run a residency program for visiting artists, and an event called the Caravan Club which is a platform for experimental performance, sound and film projects. |
