Re.sound Art/Radio 23rd/24th/25th November

 

Resound is SVA’s annual three-day exploration of the sonic arts - an eclectic mix of all things auditory including Installations, live performance, music, DJs, workshops, digital, analogue & acoustic.

The event was coordinated and curated by Rupert Howe, Dominic Thomas and Neil Walker

This years event focused on artist-led radio and its influence on contemporary arts practice. A one-day seminar featured presentations, discussions and workshops with artists and curators who have been involved with a wide range of artist-led radio projects. Evening events included live performance, experimental music and film.

Live and Film work

Vernon & Burns
Performance by artists Mr Vernon and Mr Burns, “two Scottish tape-musicians who are equipped with a fine sense of poetic humour”.

Resonance Radio Orchestra
Featuring text by Ed Baxter and music by Xentos, Weaver, Bradley and Dunn. The
RRO includes Chris Weaver (electronics), Xentos “Fray” Bentos (electronics), Fari Bradley (electronics), Sam Collings (voice).

Luke Fowler
A screening of Fowler’s 2006 film Pilgrimage From Scattered Points, which explores the work of experimental English composer Cornelius Cardew.

Being Bird L&A
We have been tipped off that a couple of unidentified birds may be protesting in the Stroud region this weekend. According to our sources these birds are taking issue with broadcast radio, in particular the lack of exposure of birdsong and recent bad press towards birds in general.

Kangaroo Kourt
Bristol-based collective perform songs by Badgertrap and Ghostboy, with guest Barry
the Badger.

Art/Radio Seminar

Jennie Savage discused her recent Star Radio project with Dominic Thomas.

Steven Paige introduced Radio Club, followed by Radio Club workshop.

Zoë Walker & Neil Bromwich discussed their Celestial Radio project.
