More information on As I Walked Out ...

The journey was led by project manager Sarah Blowers (Fairgame Theatre), who was joined by a commissioned artist in each district of Gloucestershire. Eleven artists and writers were commissioned to participate in different parts of the journey, lead art workshops in schools and during the public camps. The general public were invited to join in with the six public camps, art workshops and guided walks.

The aim of the project was to create time and space for artists to research and develop new ideas for work through the activity of walking, camping and by directly engaging the Gloucestershire landscapes, other artists and the public. An important element of the project was the four donkeys that carried provisions and camping equipment. Their addition, as well as being a fantastic resource for artistic stimulus, ensured that the project has the lowest carbon footprint possible.

This event will be an opportunity to meet the participating artists and them to present, create, or perform some of the work that they have been inspired to do by their part of the walk. Everyone is welcome and we would really like to encourage discussion and debate hear about ideas that will inspire the campers to look at their county and the environment through fresh eyes.
