Still

live video feed

Focussing on those areas of the building where precarious pieces its past life have survived - two pigeon eggs left on a rocky ledge, a flyblown light bulb - the monitors isolate these instances. The methods of recording also mimic the dispassionate methods of recording wildlife; infra-red observations and scenes recorded without intervention. We wait for something to change. On screen, real time inertia ticks by with a sense that something must be about to happen, the passivity of the work lends every minute detail and action an intensity of effect. It is as if in silence we are obliged to counter the stillness, and so even the smallest activity momentarily relieves us of this responsibility.
